Call for 10-Minute Play Submissions
The Jeffrey Award invites NYC playwrights to submit a ten-minute play on the theme "Second Acts." Submission guidelines below.
The Award will provide a director and actors for a one-time reading of the play. In addition to the opportunity to hear your play out loud, the winner will receive a $250 cash award.
All submissions must be received by Noon, May 3, 2017. Winner will be notified in July.
Guidelines for the submission:
• NYC playwrights only; one submission per author.

The Players Theatre Short Play & Musical Festival - NYC

All submissions must be submitted through the festival website.

Short Plays and Musicals with a performance time of 15 minutes or less, no more than 15 pages in length.
Writers are eligible to submit up to 2 plays.

THEME: “NYC – Only in New York”

New York City is like no other place in the world! We are seeking plays that get to the heart of the Big Apple and explore what makes this town tick. Unique New York – it’s more than a tongue twister – it is a way of life!

All plays submitted must be centered on, or revolve around this theme.

BRB Resident Program accepting applications

The BRB retreat presents an opportunity for artists of all mediums to initiate their own projects, build collaborative relationships, and develop their artistic process. The FGP BRB Retreat, now in it’s fifth year, has served hundreds of theatre artists, musicians, choreographers, composers, designers, installations artists, authors, and podcasters. Applications are open to artists of all mediums and methods. Established artists trying their hand at a new craft are also welcome to apply.

We here at March Forth love good stories, and without writers… well we don’t have many good stories, now do we? That is why every summer we provide writers with a chance to have their work read and shared informally in an environment that promotes collaboration, thoughtful feedback and the building of our artistic community.

Writing Residency Program accepting applications

Liberation Theatre Company (LTC) is proud to announce a new program for 2017 – 2018 that will further our commitment to the development of new Black playwrights for the American theatre.

The Writing Residency Program will select four early-career playwrights and provide them with dramaturgical and professional support over a nine-month period, during which time they will each be required to complete a new full-length play.

Spring 10 Minute Play Series accepting ten-minute plays

April 29 - May 13, 2016 
at Manhattan Repertory Theatre, 
17-19 West 45th St. (Between 5th and 6th Ave.)

Each 10 minute or less play will be given one short tech rehearsal, a full dress rehearsal (with the other plays participating), a minimum of two (2) performances, more if your play sells well.

Deadline April 24th

There are no participation/application fees.

May 8-14, May 22-June 4

All finalists have an option to be included in a non-exclusive play anthology for the festival. Audience votes will decide who makes it into the finals. All plays included in the final will have a chance to win cash prizes.

Fifth Theatre Brut Short-Play Festival accepting submissions

New Jersey Repertory Company invites playwrights to submit plays for its Fifth Theatre Brut Short-Play Festival as part of its Festival of the Arts to be presented at NJ Rep-West End Arts Center Oct 1 – 8, 2017. The theme of the festival is "All About Eve". Submitted works must be unpublished and no more than 10-15 minutes in length. Although new plays are preferred, playwrights may submit work that has had no more than one previous production, as long as it has not been produced in New Jersey and there are no encumbrances from the previous production.
