Broadway Bound Theatre Festival

The Broadway Bound Theatre Festival is the brainchild of former festival staffers and participants. It was formed in response to the current festival experience, which can feel more like a crash course in production (marketing, fundraising/budgeting, management, planning, and more) than an opportunity for creative development.

Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Barter’s Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights is actively planned and organized throughout the year.

Here's what happens, a brief rehearsal process (six hours/play) takes place in June with an emphasis placed on clarity, not effect—getting the playwrights words and story out to the audience. The plays are read by members of Barter’s Resident Acting Company.

One Act Festival accepting submissions

Silver Spring Stage is seeking original one-act scripts for its upcoming annual One-Act Festival. The Festival will run for three weekends in August 2017. Plays will be selected based on artistic merit, technical and casting requirements, adherence to submission rules, length, and originality. Selected playwrights will be notified by May 1, 2017. Silver Spring Stage will award Playwrights’ Prizes at the conclusion of the Festival. Prizes will be $150 for Best One-Act Play and $100 for One-Act Runner-Up. All plays presented as part of the Festival will be eligible for prizes.

Theatre East (New York | NY)

The 5 x 5 Drama Series brings performances beyond the footlights and into non-traditional spaces like breweries, rooftops, apartments, and more in a unique immersive audience experience. Each of the 5 performances will consist of 5 short plays, performed by 5 casts, throughout all 5 boroughs. Fulfilling one of our core beliefs of making theatre accessible to all, 5 x 5 brings the stage directly to the people. And best of all, tickets are available on a suggested donation basis.
