JEROME FELLOWSHIPS
$18,000 awarded to early career playwrights, in addition to $2,500 in development funds. Applicants may have had no more than two plays professionally produced. Fellows must maintain residency in Minnesota for the duration of their fellowship (July 1 – June 30). Deadline: November 19, 2020.
MANY VOICES FELLOWSHIPS
$18,000 awarded to two early career playwrights of color and/or Indigenous playwrights, along with $2,500 in development funds. Applicants may have had no more than one play professionally produced. Fellows must maintain residency in Minnesota for the duration of their fellowship (July 1 – June 30). Deadline: December 3, 2020.
MANY VOICES MENTORSHIP
$2,000 awarded to one emerging artist of color and/or Indigenous artist with an interest in playwriting, as well as free access to over $1,500 in services designed to introduce beginning playwrights to the craft of playwriting. Only Minnesota residents may apply. This opportunity offers a yearlong artistic mentorship to artists with little or no previous playwriting experience. Deadline: December 3, 2020.
McKNIGHT FELLOWSHIPS IN PLAYWRITING
$25,000 awarded to two mid-career Minnesota-based playwrights. Applicants are also awarded $2,500 in development funds and $1,400 in travel funds. Applicants must have had one or more plays professionally produced. Deadline: January 14, 2021.
McKNIGHT NATIONAL RESIDENCY AND COMMISSION
$15,000 is awarded to one nationally recognized playwright to aid in the commissioning and development of a new work. Recipients receive $5,750 in development funds, as well as funds for travel and collaborators. They also receive a public reading of the commissioned play. To be eligible, applicants must have had more than two plays professionally produced. Deadline: December 10, 2020.
McKNIGHT THEATER ARTIST FELLOWSHIPS
Three $25,000 fellowships are awarded to Minnesota-based theater artists other than playwrights whose work demonstrates exceptional artistic merit. Fellows must maintain residency in Minnesota during the fellowship year. Deadline: April 14, 2021.
CORE WRITER PROGRAM
Core Writers are awarded a three-year term with the Center. They have access to the Ruth Easton Lab Collaboration Fund to develop new plays. The Center will provide casting, space, and theater artist pay for development workshops. Funding is available to support travel and housing. Deadline: January 21, 2021.
CORE APPRENTICE PROGRAM
New Plays on Campus member schools may nominate students for the Core Apprentice program, which offers fully funded play development workshops and a year of mentorship to three student playwrights. Deadline: March 4, 2021.
