Creative Solutions Symposium at SPACE on Ryder Farm

About the Creative Solutions Symposium

The 2018 Creative Solutions Symposium offers fully subsidized residencies to 3-4 small groups (no more than 4 participants per group) who represent social justice organizations, and will take place August 20th-August 25th, 2018. Please note that while alum of the Creative Solutions Symposium are not eligible to reapply for the Symposium, they are encouraged to apply for SPACE’s other programs.

Family Residency at SPACE on Ryder Farm

About the Family Residency 

As of 2018, SPACE welcomes artist-parents with children who are 3 to 12 years of age to apply. If the child is between the ages of 7 and 12, the child must also fill out the application.

If you are a two-parent household and both parents want to participate in the residency, both parents must demonstrate in separate applications that they have a need for time and space to work on their craft.

The Family Residency is offered during these two weeks:

    -July 23rd-July 29th (for children 6-12 years old)

About Creative Residencies

Time at SPACE is granted to individuals and small groups who articulate a distinct aesthetic and point of view, lay out specific objectives for their residency and have an interest in bettering the world in which we live.

In 2018, Creative Residencies will be offered in the following lengths of time:  

  • One-week residencies are offered throughout the course of SPACE’s June-October season

  • A two-week residency is offered July 30th-August 10th

The Working Farm at SPACE on Ryder Farm

The Working Farm

The eight Working Farm writers are in residence together twice over the course of the season (May 29th-June 3rd and September 11th-16th, 2018). The remaining residency weeks are scheduled at times of each individual playwright’s choosing. During these additional stays, Working Farm writers may invite a collaborator (e.g. a director, designer, dramaturg, actor) to join them in residence at the farm, subject to availability. Collaborator stays are also fully-subsidized by SPACE.

2050 Administrative Fellowships

As a 2050 Administrative Fellow, you will:

  • Commit to a year-long paid part-time fellowship in one field of interest including Artistic Programming, Casting, Community Engagement, Development, Education, Executive, Finance & Operations, Literary, Marketing, Producing and Production Management.
  • Work directly with the department head and their team in the respective area of focus.

New Play Incubator | "Immigration"

Living Room Theater is seeking playwrights to develop plays on the theme “Immigration” for its New Play Incubator.  In the course of 3 weeks, the playwrights individually will create a 10 minute play related to immigration. Each group will culminate in a staged reading for the public. Actors and director will be provided for the reading.
 

2018 Playwriting Contest | "Celtic"-Themed

Celtic Calling is now accepting submissions of original plays, vignettes, or one-acts, not to exceed thirty minutes, with a ‘Celtic’ theme, to be performed during the weekend of the Third Annual Celtic Calling, March 2-4, 2018, at a location to be determined.  The deadline for submission is December 31, 2017, and the winning submission will be announced no later than January 15, 2018.   A $100 stipend will be provided to the writer(s) of the winning entry.
