2018 Going to the River (GTTR) Festival at Ensemble Studio Theatre

GOING TO THE RIVER (GTTR) is now accepting submissions for the Going To The River Festival 2018. The GTTR Festival 2018 will be at Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) in New York City in July 2018. The Festival will consist of never produced full-length work and short plays.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

One full-length play; never produced

AND/OR: Up to two 10 ~ 20 minute short plays; never produced

The plays must be by women of color and by playwrights who live in the New York Tri-state area.

Please be mindful of cast size.

13th NYTF Summerfest

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  • Submissions must be be between 5 - 90 minutes long. The categories of submission are: short (5 - 20 minutes), one act (20 - 45 minutes), and full length (45 - 90 minutes) - if selected, production fees apply (see below).
  • Playwrights must submit: a 60 word synopsis of the play, a character breakdown, the writer's contact information (telephone number, home address, and the number of another person in the production as a backup contact), the production history and length of the play or musical, and the writer's bio

Shakespeare's New Contemporaries

Submission Guidelines:

  • The play must be written for a cast of 10-12 actors

  • The play must be able to be performed with minimal sets

  • The play must be able to be performd with universal (shared) lighting

  • The play must be 2(ish) hours long

  • The play must have not yet had a professional production and preferably would remain unproduced through July 1, 2019. 

Mass Rhetoric: A New Works Festival 2018 | #RESIST

This year’s theme for the festival will be #RESIST.

We encourage our writers to interpret this to address something that they are passionate about that is relevant right now, and are looking for diversity and a broad spectrum of perspectives. International and immigrant voices are highly encouraged - foreign language plays with translation will be accepted.

Attic's Christmas One-Act Festival

Attic Productions in Fincastle, Virginia announces its First Annual Christmas Playwriting Festival. Attic will accept original, unpublished one-act plays to be considered for productions as part of the Christmas Playwriting Festival tentatively scheduled for November 17, 2018.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

1.) There is no charge for playwrights to submit their scripts.

Strange Sun Theater's 2018 Greenhouse Project

IN 2018 WE ALL NEED A LAUGH!

This year, Strange Sun Theater invites playwrights to submit their COMIC PLAYS to our 2018 Greenhouse New Play Development Project. In today’s fraught world, we look to the power of laughter for release, for the off-beat way it allows us to interrogate our society, and for its ability to shine a light on human behavior with all its complexities, absurdities, and joys. Submit your comedies - Satirical, Topical, Farcical, Situational, Dark, Absurd, Odd - anything that makes us laugh! The submission deadline is February 16th, 2018.

Middle School Playwriting Competition

Submission Guidelines:

  • You must currently be a middle school student living in New York City, New Jersey, or Connecticut to participate.
  • You must submit a permission slip, signed by a parent or guardian, with your play to be considered
  • Your play must be an original work--not an adaption of a play, book, movie, or any work that already exists
  • Your completed script must be no longer than 10 minutes when read aloud.
  • Scripts may have up to, but no more than six characters.
