This information is greatly appreciated and will ensure we can accurately process and properly recognize your generous contribution.
After you have spoken with us, contact your broker and provide the following information:

Upon receipt of the shares, the Center’s broker will liquidate the securities in the most cost-effective manner for the Center.
While the Center will issue an acknowledgement letter to you following the transfer, please be sure to consult your tax accountant for the specific tax benefits you may receive for your contribution.
A gift through your will or trust
A gift through your will or revocable trust is a simple and meaningful way of remembering the Center. Your gift may be directed where most needed by the Board of Directors. A sample clause to share with your attorney is:
I give to the Playwrights’ Center, a Minnesota not-for-profit corporation whose address is 2301 East Franklin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55406, Tax ID #41-6170139, (the sum of $______) or (____% of the residue of my estate) for its general purposes.
Charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust
A charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust enables you to make a contribution to the Center in exchange for payments each year for a specified term or for life. This payment can be made to you or others you choose. Your gift is invested for the specified term or life and then the remaining assets are transferred to the Playwrights’ Center to be used as you have directed. These types of gift can also provide significant income, capital gains, and estate tax savings for you.
Life insurance that you no longer need for your family’s security may be donated to the Playwrights’ Center by transferring ownership of the policy or naming the theatre as a beneficiary. Your estate may be entitled to a charitable deduction for the proceeds passing to the Center.
Retirement plan assets
The designation of the Playwrights’ Center as a beneficiary of retirement plan benefits may be a very savvy tax-wise gift strategy. Our charitable tax status exempts retirement benefits from estate and income taxes that your individual heirs could incur if you were to give retirement plan assets to them.
Join the Playwrights’ Center Legacy Society
By honoring the Center with a gift through your estate plan, you’ll join the Legacy Society, an esteemed group of individuals whose support helps ensure the vitality of the Center for future generations. No minimum financial level is required to enjoy the benefits of membership. When you join the Visionary Circle, you enjoy annual benefits and recognition today for your future gift, including:
- Invitations to Legacy Society events with Playwrights’ Center artists
- Acknowledgement on Playwrights’ Center season brochure
Donate your airline miles
One of the largest expenses for the Playwrights’ Center comes from flying playwrights and other national theater artists to the Twin Cities to develop and collaborate on new plays at the Center. You can make a huge difference by donating airline miles. Contact Katie Hey at firstname.lastname@example.org or (612) 332-7481 x138 if you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation in this way.
