Two strangers, both avoiding tomorrow, encounter each other on a subway platform in the middle of the night. A dreamlike place where time bends and light and sound shift and warp, Man and Woman, halfway between sleep and wakefulness, share secrets, silence, and a dance, and ultimately learn to confront tomorrow as it, inevitably, comes.

Confined to a hospital room day after day, ten-year-old Tallulah just wants to go back to her Appalachian home and be a kid again. Her mother Lily just wants to keep her safe, no matter the cost. When Death shows up with a tempting offer, they must face everything they’ve been avoiding and choose the right path. A modern folk adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Story of a Mother.”
