Sam is a new playwright from Madison, WI, trying to make it in the New York theater scene. His work tackles how character and language can define each other.
Biography

Sam is a new playwright to the New York scene, having graduated from the University of Wisconsin with degrees in Theatre and Creative Writing. Originally from Madison, WI, he's always had a passion for writing, and turned his attention to writing for the stage in college.

Since then, his work has been featured in several local festivals, such as the Marcia Legere Play Festival, the TGSO's 10 Minute Play Festival, Monocles Not Included, as well as two play festivals of his work: Back & Forth, and Many Hats. His most recent play, and his first full-length work, "The Overwhelming Urge to be Completely Destroyed" is slated to go up at the end of September at the Kraine Theater in Manhattan.

Sam likes to write ensemble comedies that explore character, language, grief, sexuality, coming-of-age, and class.

After the unexpected death of a former classmate, eight distant friends convene on the suburb of their youth to celebrate, grieve, and reconcile their shared past and diverging futures. The atmosphere is frantic and boozy, and as the night slouches toward disaster, everyone must figure out how to cope, somehow.
