The Playwrights' Center celebrates the life of Laurie Carlos (January 25, 1949 - December 29, 2016)
Laurie Carlos was born and grew up on the Lower East Side of New York City. She was an artist and worked with emerging writers, actors, performers. Laurie worked and lived in the Twin Cities. 2014 marked 50 years in theater where she created at the edge, lifting voices. Laurie wrote for Urban Bush Women, Movin Spirits Dance Theatre, and Ananya Dance Theatre. She curated The Late Nite series at Pillsbury House Theatre. She wrote a Performance Novel, The Pork Chop Wars. Her work has been published by TCG.
