Biography

Laural Meade is a Los Angeles-based theater artist whose original works focus on highly theatrical re-imaginings of American history for adults and non-verbal performance experiences for young audiences. Her plays have been seen throughout Los Angeles and in New York, Seattle, Chicago, and Phoenix. Highlights include co-writing/directing a piece for all ages that toured Belgium and the Netherlands; a variety of playwriting commissions, directing and dramaturgy gigs for the Mark Taper Forum; and winning the Los Angeles Drama Critics’ Circle award for Best Writing, along with grants from The MAP Fund, the California Arts Council and The Flintridge Foundation. She holds an MFA from UCLA and a BA from Occidental College, where she is a member of theater faculty.
