Eugene was born into a large, artistic family, the twelfth of fourteen and the youngest male. Although named after Eugene O’Neill, he does not write anything past 2 and half hours long.

After he taught for 23 years and designed and/or directed over 100 pieces of theatre, 42 of which he co- directed and/or performed in with his wife. In 2016, he wrote Under Your Mother’s Feet: first the of many plays to explore the complexities of family secret-keeping. “My Thoughts Be Bloody”- a take on the rivalry of John Wilkes and Edwin Booth. 

 

Eugene lives in LaGrange, outside Chicago with his wife and cat.

 

 

Successes

Eugene O'Reilly's play Waiting For Ringot was selected to be produced as part of the Chicago Rhino Fest - the annual June festival of small theatres, and performance artists in the city. He will be also directing the production taking place on Sunday June evenings at 7:00 at the famed Chicago Dramatists.
