Successes

David was selected to participate in Nautilus Music-Theater's Composer-Librettist Studio in 2018, where he met composer Kelly Krebs, with whom he has collaborated extensively ever since.

Krebs and Smith are developing a musical theater parody of the classic film PSYCHO that is called NORMAN!  Other collaborators on NORMAN! include stage director Eric Morris and Music Director Sonja Thompson.

GRACE won Second Prize in National History Play Contest sponsored by the Sprenger-Lang Foundation and a development grant from the Arch and Bruce Brown Foundation.

WALLACE STEVENS AT KEY WEST, a one-act predecessor to MAN WITH BLUE GUITAR, was commissioned by the LiveArts Peninsula Foundation and won a Florida Playwrights Process award.

MAN WITH BLUE GUITAR was given a workshop/showcase production in Sarasota with a cast from the Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training and directed by Margaret Eginton.

WALLACE STEVENS AT KEY WEST was produced at Eckerd Theater in Clearwater, FL and was directed by Van Huff and produced by Julia Flood.

GRACE was produced at Studio@620 in St. Petersburg, FL by Bob Devin Jones and directed by Angela Bond.

GRACE was produced at Manatee Riverfront Theater and was directed by Preston Boyd.
