Homegrown: Luton's New Writing Festival

Calling all writers! Aspiring Playwright? Bit of a wordsmith? We’re looking for local writers, regardless of age or experience to submit their work. If selected, the pieces will be allocated a director, and will be performed by local actors in front of a live audience on Friday 5th July 2024 at Luton Library Theatre. This festival’s theme is PRIDE. We’re looking for 10-minute plays inspired by this theme. Go wild! Think outside the box.

Exhume Fall 2024 Submissions

Submissions are now open for our fall issue. We strive to publish visual art, poetry, prose, and drama in order to help writers who discuss queerness and trauma find a home for their works. Though we especially seek submissions that discuss these topics, we accept good writing across the board. Submit up to 3,500 words.

We accept any kind of written work: poetry, prose, essays, fiction, creative non-fiction, scripts, hybrid, experimental writing, whatever. The amount of work you may submit each month is determined by length. Maximum word count is 1000. 500 Words or Less: You may submit up to three (3) per month. 500-1000 Words: You may submit up to one (1) per month. Our interests include identity, gender, trauma and recovery, creative expression, and intuition and dreams. Each issue of Exist Otherwise will have a theme and a prompt. Submissions that respond to a theme or prompt will be given some priority, but we will consider all submissions. We pay $15 per published work.
