SALLY: Wife of Otto. Even-tempered, stoic, good heart, respected by all. MARTHA: Rough, backwoods woman. Loud, blunt. Dresses like a man. GARY: A regular. Overly dramatic, humorless and kind of dumb. NELS: A drinker. Shy, scandinavian immigrant with slight accent. OTTO: Saloon owner. Nice guy, but not good in business. JOHNNY*: Guitar player #1. Usually drunk. MR. SCHINKEN*: Banker. German immigrant with accent. Exacting but kind. JUNIOR**: Guitar player #2. Usually drunk. DETECTIVE D’Egout**: Minneapolis inspector with French-Canadian accent.
