Dottie Chaparral, a 95-year-old retired World War II era surgical nurse and card shark. Presently, Dottie resides at the Pfister Brain Research Clinic and Assisted Living Facility in Señora-de-las-Flores-de-Mayo, Florida where she is awaiting a kidney transplant. The facility is run by Dottie’s friend, Dr. Glen Pfister, who is a world-renown transplant surgeon and neurologist. Dottie’s primary caregiver, Amber Dean, is a 23 year-old nurse’s aide and “reforming” career criminal. This play asks the question: Between crime and punishment and science, what kinds of organ transplants are waiting on the horizon of the human experience?
