Biography

BARBARA BLEIER (aka Barbara Cohn Schlachet, Ph.D.) is an actor, playwright and singer. She wrote and performed the solo show, Who’s Your Mama?, which deals with issues of women aging in America, and won a production at the 2007 “Women At Work” Festival in New York City, under the direction of Austin Pendleton. Her play, The Last Hippie, an exploration of 1970’s values in a Bush-Cheney era, was awarded a staged reading at the HB Playwright’s Theatre in New York City, under the direction of Kate Bushmann. Three short plays, Goodnight, Sweet Prince, and Sanctum Santorum and Death and the Matron have been given readings at the Abingdon Theatre. Goodnight, Sweet Prince was also included in an evening of short plays at Stage Left Studio, in NYC.
