Biography

Orginally from Chicago, Marie-Françoise is an actor, writer and filmmaker of Haitian descent. During her time as a twice selected Many Voices Fellow under the mentorship of playwright Kia Corthron, Marie-Françoise wrote the full-length play Going Forward in Reverse, which received a professional reading at the PWC. A section of GFR was subsequently made into a short film in 2011 and screened at several film festivals. She is the writer/director, actor and producer of the multi-award winning experimental short film rebel in the soul and was the recipient of a Jerome Foundation Media Arts Grant.  Currently, Marie-Françoise is writing her memoir, Not A Proper Haitian Girl.  She was selected as a 2013 Semi-Finalist for the Hollywood Black Film Festival/Stargazer Project in conjunction with NASA to write a sci-fi feature rooted in current space technology.
