Biography

Larry Greenstein is a life-long resident of Minneapolis.  He holds a BA degree in Theater and a Masters degree in Education from the University of Minnesota.  A former Resident Playwright and Jerome Fellow at the Playwrights' Center in the late '70's, Larry has had plays produced in the Midwest and New York.

When not writing plays, Larry is a freelance Celtic and Klezmer fiddler.  He has also worked in the Development Department at the Guthrie Theatre.  His wife, Jodi, and daughter, Hannah, are his biggest fans.

Successes

My short play "Black Tea" was selected to be part of the Marshall Area Stage Company's Short Play Festival in March of 2024.

Larry Greenstein's story Boom Chicka has been selected as one of the storytelling performances at the Freshwater Theatre's (MPLS) presentation of  Eventually, Epiphany. The show will open in September 2019.

Larry Greenstein's short play Steinbeck in Golden Valley has been selected a semi-finalist for MN writers in the 2019 Minnesota Shorts Play Festival. The play traces John Steinbeck's very short visit to Minnesota in the 1960's while writing Travels with Charley.

Larry Greenstein's short play Rust Belt was a finalist at the Queens Theatre (NYC) TFA Short Play competition 2018.

Larry Greenstein's short play Alternate Bass Strum is now an audio play presented on the Frequency Theatre (England) web site at http://www.frequencytheatre.co.uk/play/alternate-bass-strum/  This play was previously presented at short play festivals in NYC, Montana and Minnesota.
