Seeking Playwrights for SoHo Playhouse's Lighthouse Series!

SoHo Playhouse presents The 3rd Annual Lighthouse Theatre Series:

A competition first of its kind. This spring we are turning on the beacon to let artists across New York City know to COME THIS WAY! 

 

What will this series entail?

Oh, the usual—just a collective celebration of the best 15-20 short plays, monologues, or one-act shows around the town over the course of three weeks this spring.

10th Annual Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • PWTF fosters and encourages women in the performing arts by offering unique opportunities for exposure, professional, artistic and personal development and a platform for performance.
  • In years past, we’ve focused on specific themes, from motherhood to hometown heroes to mental health. This year, as we enter our second decade of existence, we aim to simply CELEBRATE. If you are a woman or non-binary artist with a story to tell, we want to uplift your voice. 

Inaugural One-Act Weekend

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Time Frame – Selections will be chosen no later than April 30th. If your show is selected, you will be notified by this date.
  • Number of allowed submissions – A playwright may not submit more than three (3) plays for consideration
  • Topic – Any topic you choose! We are looking for a mix of genres. Nothing is off the table.
  • Length – Up to 45 minutes in length.

WHATCo's 2024 One Act Play Festival

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Play Festival Dates: May 17th at 7:30 and May 18th at 7:30
  • Performances are free to the public!
  • All plays must be completed one act plays running 5-30 minutes in length.
  • Play must be typed.
  • Limit of 3 entries per playwright, please.
  • Content must be appropriately PG-13.
  • Plays written in English, Spanish, or Portuguese accepted!
  • Please Include:
    • Cover page with contact info and title.
    • Brief synopsis.
    • Character breakdown.

Peter Bullough Foundation Residency

The ideal applicant will be self-directed, motivated, able to work independently, and interested in engaging with the local community. Each awarded residency period is roughly 4 weeks long and is shared with 1-2 other artists in residence, making it a very intimate experience. Artistic collaborators in groups of 2-3 may apply in one application.

Supporting our local community is crucial to our mission. While in residence, artists are required to host a workshop, lecture, or event virtually or in-person.

Liberation Theatre Company Writing Residency Program 2024/25

The Writing Residency Program will select four early-career playwrights and provide them with dramaturgical and professional support over a ten-month period, during which time they will each be required to complete a new full-length play.

Fresh Fruit Festival 2024

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Two Competition events: Friday, March 1 AND Saturday, March 2.
  • At least 12 plays will compete, 6 each night; the Top 3 winners from each night win $50 each, AND these 6 finalists will compete AGAIN during the Spring MAINSTAGE Festival, April 22 – May 5, for grand prizes.
  • Plays must be 10 minutes or less in length.
  • Plays must feature topics, characters, or subjects of concern to the LGBT or Q communities. Since 2002, the Festival has taken great pride in presenting wide ethnic and gender diversity.
