Biography

William Fowkes is a playwright and author based in Manhattan and Connecticut and a member of the Pulse Ensemble Theatre Company Playwrights’ Lab. His licensed full-length plays include ALL IN THE FACULTY (Dramatists Play Service) and COUPLE OF THE CENTURY (Yes Plays). Other full-length plays include SUNSHINE QUEST (Fresh Fruit Festival, New York City, 2014), A FIELD GUIDE TO TABLE MANNERS (2013 Reva Shiner Comedy Award Finalist), THE BEST PLACE WE’VE EVER LIVED (Love Creek Productions, New York, 2013), PRIVATE PROPERTY (Penobscot Theatre Company’s New Work Festival, 2012), THE GERMAN LESSON (Great Plains Theatre Conference Playlab, 2010), and others. His short plays include THE BRAZILIAN DILEMMA (produced & published by The Collective: NY; First Prize, McLean Drama Company, 2013), THE NEXT MOVE (Winner, One-Act Play Competition, Brevard Little Theatre, 2010), THE DAKOTA (Best Short Play Award, Downtown Urban Theater Festival, 2005), and others. Spokane Public Radio (KPBX-FM 91.1) broadcast TABLE MANNERS IN MEXICO CITY, a One-Act Play by William Fowkes, at 6:30PM PDT (9:30PM Eastern time), Monday, October 20, 2014.  

This play was first produced at the 15-Minute Play Festival, American Globe Theatre, New York City, April 2012, with a cast that included Roxann Kraemer, Tony Neil, Jessica Vera, and Elly Berke.(The radio broadcast has a different cast.) This play is also a scene in the full-length play, A FIELD GUIDE TO TABLE MANNERS (2013 Reva Shiner Comedy Award Finalist and 2012 W.Keith Hedrick Playwriting Contest Finalist).

SYNOPSIS: A tourist in Mexico City is annoyed that his wife has invited a third person to join them at dinner until the attractive young woman shows up.
