Biography

Stephanie Fleischmann’s plays have been developed and performed internationally and across the U.S. at venues including London’s Roundhouse Studio, Exit Festival (France), Noorderzon Festival (Netherlands), EMPAC, Red Eye, Here Arts Center, New Victory LabWorks, Asolo Rep, T41, Synchronicity, Briclab, New Georges/The Flea, Soho Rep, Chocolate Factory, Roadworks, Knitting Factory, the Public, Playlabs, Interart, the Hollywood Bowl, Juilliard, Integrity, Birmingham Rep (UK), Mass MoCA. She has been commissioned to write opera libretti for Wien Modern, Santa Fe Opera, 92nd Street Y, Chicago Opera Theater, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera (HGOco), American Lyric Theater/Opera Saratoga, and Pittsburgh Opera. Grants/fellowships include: Howard Foundation Fellowship in Playwriting, Opera America, NEA Opera/Music-Theater, 3 NYSCAs, 3 NYFAs, MapFund, Tennessee Williams Fellowship, Frederic Loewe Award, Greenwall Foundation, Arts Council England, New York State Music Fund, Whitfield Cook award, New Music USA.
