Kristin Makholm
Kristin Makholm is an art historian who has spent the last several years strengthening Twin Cities’ cultural organizations through development and fundraising. Her early career was spent as a curator in art museums and colleges, including the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Milwaukee Art Museum, and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and then as executive director of the Minnesota Museum of American Art, where she won a Minnesota Book Award for the exhibition catalogue Modern Spirit: The Art of George Morrison in 2014. During this time, Kristin increasingly came to appreciate the importance of forging relationships with donors passionate about supporting artists, the creative process, and our nonprofit institutions. This led her, most recently, to serve as major and planned giving officer at Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media. Kristin holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in art history from the University of Minnesota. For fun and inspiration, she loves to travel, sing in the Plymouth Congregational Church choir, and hang out with her husband and orange tabby in their new townhome in Minneapolis.
