Ken Weitzman’s plays include The Catch, Fire in the Garden, The As If Body Loop, Arrangements, and Halftime with Don. His plays have been produced at Atlantic Theater Company, Denver Center, Humana Festival, Indiana Repertory Theatre, among others. Plays in progress include: license for seal boy (Keen Company Writers Lab), and Spin Moves (FAU Theatre Lab, New Harmony Project). National awards include The L. Arnold Weissberger Award, the Fratti/Newman Political Play Contest Award, and the Elizabeth George Commission for an Outstanding Emerging Playwright. His plays have also been selected multiple times for the National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center.
Commissions include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Arena Stage, the Alliance Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Theatre Emory, Out of Hand Theatre, and South Coast Repertory Theatre.
He is a Core Writer at the Playwrights Center of Minneapolis, a member of Meeting of the Minds at the Lark Play Development Company, and the Writers’ Lab at Keen Company. He’s a former writer-in- residence of Out of Hand Theatre, and served on the board of The New Harmony Project for six years.
Ken has taught at Indiana University (head of the MFA program), UCSD, Emory University and, currently, at Stony Brook University.
Prior to playwriting he wrote and produced sports content for, among others, The National Basketball Association, Emerald City, and CybrCard.
