Rae Binstock was raised in Cambridge, MA. Her full-length plays include Watch Me Burn (Idle Muse Theatre's Athena Festival, March Forth Productions, The Fresh Fruit Festival), Expedition (The National Theater for Student Artists, Columbia's Seymour Brick Memorial Prize for Playwriting), We Are The Light Of The World (winner of The Red Theater’s National Playwriting Competition, winner of 84th National Writer's Digest Writing Competition) and The Snowstorm (2016 Historic Elitch Theatre New Works Festival, Harold Clurman Playwright’ Division Pick). She is also the author of a collection of one-act plays, a web-series entitled Rejected, and Tapes From Jane Street, an upcoming serial radio-drama. Rae has received an artistic residency from The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico.
Rae earned her BA in Anthropology and Theatre from Columbia University, where she co-wrote the book for Columbia’s 120th Annual Varsity Show and served on the board of NOMADS, a student group dedicated to producing original work. Rae has interned with numerous theater organizations, including the Wooster Group, the Atlantic Theater, and the world-famous Apollo Theater; she also attended the Powerhouse Training Program as a playwriting apprentice in 2015, where she worked with artists such as Keith Bunin, Sean Mathias, and the Debate Society. Rae currently works as a script assistant for artists such as Ellen McLaughlin and David Henry Hwang. She lives in Brooklyn.
