David Beach is a playwright, director and educator living in Southwest Virginia. He is a professor of English at Radford University.
Biography

David Beach is director, playwright, educator, and actor. He has directed over 20 productions, twice winning the West Virginia Theatre Association’s Outstanding Production (“Art” in 2013 and Red in 2014). Other directing credits: Cooch E. Whippet, or the Farce of Martin of Cambray; The Vagina Monologues; Walter Cronkite Is Dead; Stupid Fucking Bird; A Steady Rain; The Year of Magical Thinking; and Copenhagen. As an actor, selected roles include Dr. Gibbs in Our Town, Lunsford in Santee Delta, Mark Rothko in Red, Juror #8 in Twelve Angry Men, Dr. Spivey in One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Polixines in A Winter’s Tale, and Nick Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The author of 16 plays, he is currently working on a piece that explores what we do with our dead. He is a professor of English at Radford University, proudly holds membership in the Virginia Theatre Association, the Southeastern Theatre Conference and the Dramatists Guild of America, and is the founder and artistic director of the Virginia Blue Ridge Theatre.
