Biography

Dan Bancroft’s plays include Extra Tall, Please, performed at the October 2022 Warner International Festival, Torrington CT, Five Guns, Four Bullets, a finalist in the 2006 ‘8Minute Madness’ Festival in NYC and highlighted in New York Magazine; Choices, winner of the Audience Choice award for Best Play in June 2007 at the 35th Playwrights’ Platform Summer Festival in Boston, Massachusetts, What’s Really Good, produced in NYC in the 2007 ‘8 Minute Madness Festival, the Ghostplays reading series of the Tennessee Williams Festival in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and the October 2007 New Provincetown Players Fall Festival. In 2009, Smoke won the Audience Choice award for Best Play at the Playwrights’ Platform Summer Festival. Choices and Smoke are published by Heuer Publishing, and have been performed around the US. Choices was translated and performed in Nuremberg, Germany in 2010 as part of a Holocaust Memorial Series.

His 1-act, Let, was performed at the Arundel Festival, England, August 16-24, 2014, and the New Works Festival, Firehouse Theatre, Newburyport, MA, in January 2018. 

He is a member of the Dramatists Guild, Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, Portland Maine's Page to Stage, Wild Geese Writers, and The Playwrights’ Center, Minneapolis.

 

Successes

Extra Tall, Please was accepted to the 11th Annual Warner International Playwrights Festival and will be performed the weekend of October 14-15, 2022. 

Dan Bancroft's One Act play Let was accepted to the New Works Festival at the Newburyport  Firehouse Theater's New Works Festival, to be performed in January 2018. Let was previously performed at the 2014 Arundel Festival in Arundel, England.
