Biography

Cherene is a multi-award-winning veteran actor and singer-songwriter, who began her career as a teenager in the cult classic film, “Cooley High.” She has gone on to appear in “City of Angels” with Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan,” “The Long Walk Home” with Whoopi Goldberg and Sissy Spacek and “Out of Darkness” with Diana Ross. She has covered all mediums of acting but has an extensive background in theatre including Broadway, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” with Scarlett Johansson, as well as, off-Broadway, regionally and across the pond to Edinburgh, Scotland. She has written 3 solo plays, “Circle Session,” “This Actor’s Journey,” and “The Moment I Felt My Soul” for which she wrote and arranged all of her original songs and sang the music. “The Moment I Felt My Soul” was birthed out of Josh Wilder’s Playwright’s Workshop and Cherene has since written her first one-act play, “Hiding Inside Her,” and her first full length play, “Monday Wednesday Friday.”
