Biography

Buffy has produced and directed musicals, plays, workshops, and staged readings in professional theatres and educational settings across the country. A prolific playwright, she has earned multiple awards for writing and directing, including fellowships from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the McKnight Advancement Grant. A four time playwright in Playlabs, she has been nominated several times for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for distinguished women playwrights. Her plays have been produced across the country in such venues as Circle Repertory Company in New York, Stages Theatre Company, Denver Center Theatre, The Jungle Theatre and Illusion Theatre. Her musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol, touring nationally since 1995, was translated into Spanish for international tours. Buffy is also a stage and film actor. Formerly with the Guthrie Theater, she has appeared with The Jungle Theater, the Ordway, and Chanhassen. She is known for her acting work in such films asGrumpy Old Men, Untamed Heart and Lucky Day, among many others.  She has co-authored three curriculum guides for playwriting and taught extensively at colleges and universities.  She is currently working on her newest play, Floating House.
