The Ox has never been lost
But we search for it anyway,
Along the dusty roads.

Searching for the Ox is a Zen comic/drama, which deals with the question of how to find that which is fundamental to our lives. The play is set both in a Zen Center in NY, and in the park with vagrants, the homeless, and a wise peanut vendor. We watch two Zen students struggle with and compete for the attention of their mysterious, charismatic and relentless Zen Master. Not only do they differ on their reactions to him, but to the question of human suffering, how to help the needy, what true kindness and enlightenment really are. As play goes on there is heightened danger as late at night a murder takes place among the homeless in the park. The play is full of unexpected twists and turns as we explore who did it, what happened and who the true hero really is.
