Biography

Relatively new to playwriting, having just completed his MFA in Creative Writing from Lesley University, Andy has used his background in stand-up and improv comedy to build a large portfolio of work in a variety of media: his screenplay The 70-Year Itch optioned by Amazon Studios and developed with acclaimed director Donald Petrie; his comedy book Red Sox Fans are From Mars, Yankees Fans are From Uranus named a Boston Globe bestseller in 2012; his short film Adult Puberty (starring Golden Globe and Tony Award winner Barry Bostwick) screened at festivals throughout North America; and his New Girl spec sitcom script chosen runner-up in the 2013 Final Draft Big Break contest out of 7000 scripts.

His Amazon Author's Page boasts another six books including Will Beg for Dignity, a book of hilarious personal essays, and Don't Talk Sports at the Dinner Table, a compilation of his best essays from his page on Yahoo! Sports entitled Wasif's World.

His plays use an onslaught of humor to explore situations familiar to all of us, including how we navigate relationships in our lives, the rules we live by and protect ourselves with, and the difficulty breaking out of patterns even when remaining the same is the worse option.
