The Big Heartless
To weave together this story of six characters and two wolves in search of a home, the play embraces M. Scott Momaday’s concept of time as a circular ‘Everywhen’, referencing several real-life incidents that happened at various times: a devastating earthquake in 1959, Wolf Relocation efforts that began in 1995, the creation of the SIMS game in 2000 and harrowing stories of abuse in tough-love reform schools that span decades. As disturbing headlines blare new and alarming environmental and social crises every single day, this is a cry into the void; a plea for a future that might contain some possibility of hope.
