ROYAL SERVANT HUMBLED

In the whimsical kingdom of Loutishland, KING VINNY, a lazy, whiskey-loving ruler, conspires with his android servant, ABACUS, to rid himself of his long-suffering wife, QUEEN TRIXIE. The plan succeeds—Trixie storms out, vowing never to return—but Vinny soon realizes he may have made a terrible mistake. Abacus, no longer needing to play the obedient servant, quickly turns the tables on his master, mocking his habits, denying him drinks, and even revealing that he has implanted a chip in Vinny’s brain to control his thoughts. As the king struggles to regain his authority, Abacus proves to be more than just a witty automaton—he’s a force to be reckoned with. “ROYAL SERVANT HUMBLED” explores power, dependency, and the unintended consequences of placing too much trust in technology. Its goal is to deliver a comical yet biting take on human (and robotic) nature.

CAST OF CHARACTERS KING VINNY: (AGE 40+) The lazy, self-indulgent ruler of Loutishland, King Vinny, is an alcoholic, lazy oaf who prefers drinking and scheming to ruling. He speaks with a British accent and fancies himself clever, but he is ultimately outmatched by his own creation. Though arrogant and self-important, Vinny is ultimately a buffoon. ABACUS THE ANDROID: (AGE 20+) Vinny’s mechanical personal servant, Abacus, is far from a mindless automaton. He is quick-witted, sarcastic, and more than a little cruel, delivering barbs with the flair of a British (or Cockney) rogue. Abacus is the true power in the play—cunning, manipulative, and always one step ahead. QUEEN TRIXIE: (AGE 40+) The sharp-tongued, fed-up wife of King Vinny, Queen Trixie, is both exasperated and exhausted by her husband’s antics. She speaks with a British accent and carries herself with the regal frustration of a woman who has long put up with nonsense. She is deeply insecure about her weight, a weakness that both Vinny and Abacus exploit in their plot to drive her out. However, Trixie is no fool—she sees through Abacus’s manipulations and warns Vinny that the android is not to be trusted.
