CANCER OF THE SPIRIT – THE PLAY
Cancer of the Spirit – The Play weaves touching stories of a diverse cross-section of 10 women, ranging in age between 23 and 79, into a colorful quilt of all-too-human struggles and exhilarating triumphs. Each character is challenged with an issue(s) that has trampled her spirit and is in the process of self-evaluation and renewal.
A portion of the dialogue is written and spoken in the dialect of 79 year-old, Hattie Mae. She doesn’t have a formal education, but has a worldly education and is very perceptive of her changing environment – one that she doesn’t like worth a damn.
The play’s intent is to spark self-examination and offer to those in some state of despair, both women and men, the courage to initiate positive action in their life.
Cancer of the Spirit – The Play is a work in progress.
