Old Growth

A failed musician and small business owner leaves his estranged wife and moves with his son to start a new life in his great grandfather’s hometown, only to discover disturbing clues that expose dark truths about how his family had prospered and why they were driven from town.

Henry Lakso: 50-something. A man weighed down by the shame of his inability to satisfy any of the people close to him throughout his life. Is a “toe walker” and wears a fanny pack in front. Average looking. Doesn’t always pick up on social cues. Slouches due to a lifetime of failure and shame. Mika Lakso: Henry only child. 14 years old. Neurotic with temper due partly to his age and partly his genetics. Estelle: 60-something. Long time Anola resident. Smart, professional and focused. Wendel: Henry’s neighbor. A local oddball who attaches himself to Joe because he himself is also an outsider in many ways. Melody: Wendell’s daughter. Attractive, fair, gentle.
