Noble Hearts

Emilia from Two Noble Kinsmen is the only indentifiably queer woman in Shakespeare’s repertoire. Many Shakespeare scholars agree, her monologue in Act one Scene three is evidence of her queerness and love for the late Flavina. I have taken the seeds sown in this moment, that is but nineteen lines, and grown a whole show. What flowers is a tragic comedy where a cast of nine women tell the tale of sisterhood, duty, love, and loss.
