Core Writer Program

The Playwrights’ Center invites committed professional playwrights to apply for the Core Writer program. Created in recognition of the particular needs of emerging and established writers, the program offers significant resources intended to further a playwright's career and is available to writers nationally.

Restrictions: 
Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. It is not required for an applicant to have had professional productions in order to apply. However, please note that this program is highly competitive and is designed for committed professional playwrights who are pursuing playwriting as their primary career.

Playwrights' Center (Minneapolis | MN)

Jerome Fellowships

Four $18,000 fellowships will be awarded in 2016, in addition to $1,750 in development support. Fellows spend a year-long residency in Minnesota. Fellows commit to spending the 12-month fellowship period in Minnesota actively participating in the Center’s programs. Housing and travel are not provided.

Restrictions: 
Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Applicants may not have had more than two different works fully produced by professional theaters at the time of application. Playwrights may not receive more than two Jerome Fellowships. A previous Jerome fellowship recipient applying for a second fellowship must submit a different play than the play accompanying his/her first application.
