Boston University MFA in Playwriting Program

Boston University (BU) offers a three-year MFA in Playwriting that combines the best of their traditions—their nationally recognized Playwriting Program, founded by Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott in 1981, with an exciting collaboration with the award-winning School of Theatre at Boston University. Playwriting students’ voices are encouraged, nurtured, and challenged, and BU has a profound and positive impact on their artistry by incorporating them into a vibrant community of artists. Five graduate students are accepted every two years—2022, 2024, and so on. This assures students of individual, hands-on attention from faculty during all phases of the MFA degree program.
Fee:
$80* *BU does offer an application fee waiver to ensure that an application fee does not pose a barrier to anyone who wishes to apply for admission. If accepted, playwrights attend school at no cost to them.
Restrictions:
Open to all playwrights.
