Recordings: If you cannot attend a portion of the seminar, we have a Teaching Assistant and/or PWC facilitator taking in-depth notes. These written notes will be shared with all participants at the end of each session. (We record all of our sessions for internal use only. We do not share recordings with participants.)

Have you always wanted to write for TV, but haven't jumped in yet? Do you have an idea for a pilot? How do I even begin? In this class, we'll examine the form of television, how story is told, helpful tools to build your TV show, what it means to pitch, and begin laying the groundwork for a TV pilot all your own.

This Is the Class for You if You:

• Are a playwright or writer looking to learn about television writing.
• Are interested in tools to both write a pilot and your pitch.

What to Expect:

• The Zoom meetings will be lecture and discussion--with the expectation that you've watched and done the exercises between each meeting.
• This will be less a workshop where you are sharing your work and getting feedback in the Zoom as our Zoom time will be used to lay the foundation so that after the class you have tools at the ready.
• You will be starting to develop out a TV show idea, so having thoughts and notions about this going in will be useful (though not 100% necessary).

Important Things to Note:

• When you sign up, you will receive an auto-confirmation email. The next business day you will receive a detailed confirmation email with important information about the seminar including (1) Membership Programs Participation Form (2) The Zoom link (3) Pre-assignments from the instructor and (4) Information about the PWC Membership and Education Team. If you have not received this email by the next business day, please check your spam folder or reach out to Alayna and she will make sure you have the information you need for the seminar or class.
• All participants must complete and submit a Membership Programs Participation Form for each seminar or class they want to attend. A link to this form is included in the detailed confirmation email.
• This class will be using Google Classroom. Therefore, you must have or create a Gmail account to fully participate in the class.

NOTE FROM ANDREW

When I started out transitioning to TV writing there was so much that was similar to playwriting, but also so much that was different. Not to mention navigating how executives give notes and talk to you about your work. 

You need your North Stars. The POV/lens of your show. To know why only you can write it. And hold fast to it. 

In our time together, we'll foster each other's skill while also creating a safe room to explore and take risks. Everything we'll talk about are ideas or concepts I wish I had a handle on when I started out. And also are all things that helped me to sell a show.

INSTRUCTOR BIO

Andrew Rosendorf’s work has been produced or developed at La Jolla, MCC, KC Rep, Signature Theatre, the National New Play Network, American Theater Company, Nashville Rep, City Theatre, Geva Theatre, Actor’s Express, Curious Theatre Company, and Local Theater Company. He is the recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award, a Venturous Theater Fund Grant and a MAP Fund Grant for REFUGE, which he co-created with Satya Jnani Chávez. He is an alum of the Goodman's Playwrights Unit, NNPN’s Playwright-in-Residence pro-gram, the Ingram New Works program, terraNOVA Collective’s Groundbreakers Playwrights Group, and has been a fellow of SPACE on Ryder Farm, Tofte Lake Center, VCCA and MacDowell Colony. He was a previous McKnight and Jerome Fellow at the Playwrights’ Center. He is a current Core Writer with the Playwrights’ Center and an Associate Artist with Local Theater Company. He is currently in development for a television pilot with Amblin at Peacock.
