SLOW FLIGHT by Patricia Barrier

Clarice and Katsuo, women on opposites sides of World War II, meet years later and bond over a love of flying and struggles with controlling husbands. When Katsuo learns what Clarice did in the war and Clarice grapples with her guilt, their friendship is fractured in dangerous ways.
