THE DREAMERS JOURNEY by Zan Hall

The play takes place in Kabul, Afghanistan between 2017 and early 2020. Poverty reigns and many children are subject to illiteracy and low status while trying to make a living for their families. In some cases, this has led to selling their bodies, either through early marriage or sexual favors. It is not uncommon for boys to take on traditional girls' roles and girls to take on traditional boys' roles in order to survive in a strictly religious society.

WHAT IS MEMBER OPEN PLAY?

Member Open Play is a chance for member playwrights to gather online and by phone to read each other's plays aloud and respond with constructive feedback. The reading and responses are facilitated by a Playwrights' Center staff member. Attendees may be asked to read a role(s).
