THE LYING GAME by Kari Heistad

The Lying Game is a story about Eleanor, a barista and aspiring actress who can't seem to get back on stage. Ruth, a dear friend and loyal customer, convinces Eleanor to audition for "Theatre Aside," an interactive acting company that caters to its immersive experience to each new audience. But Theatre Aside has a problem on its hands. It recently received a request for a show, unlike anything they've ever produced. The client, Will Ayers, wants the troupe to integrate themselves into his life, disguised as ordinary people, in an attempt to distinguish fact from fiction. When Eleanor arrives at her audition, she has no idea she is about to be roped into the most challenging role she's ever had to play: herself. As the show unfolds, the players question the ethics of theatre and the artificial beginnings of relationships. How can you tell what is real and what is fabrication? Do we all just act the part we wish to play?
