"In self-producing, there is no institution to represent you, you have to represent yourself.” – Carlyle Brown

You've written a play, congratulations, that's the hardest part! Now, you want people to see it and opportunities to work on your piece. In this seminar with Many Voices Fellow Kit Yan, we will work through setting goals for your play's next steps, self-producing, crowdsourcing fundraising, and making a budget. Whether you've written one play or one hundred plays, this seminar will help you make a plan for where your show is headed regardless of what phase of the development process you're in.

Please bring with you your computers, a logline (one-sentence summary), synopsis, the development history of your play, and your bios.

This is the Seminar for you if:

  • You want to produce your own play
  • You are interested in the business of playwriting
  • You have questions about next steps after your play is complete

PostScript: Kit and co-writer Melissa Li's Queer Asian-American Pop Rock Musical, Insterstate, will play at Mixed Blood in March 2020.
