...how rarely theater feels as visceral and exciting and alive as a game of football” – Andrew Hinderaker

This seminar, with Many Voices Fellow Candrice Jones, will aid participants who have begun to write or who are thinking of writing sports inspired plays. Through in-class exercises participants will experiment with using elements of a sport to drive dramatic structure and manifest dialogue. We will look at work of writers who have used basketball as examples of differing styles and dialogue.

This is the Seminar for you if:

  • You like sports
  • You're writing a play about/with a sport
  • You're curious about the intersection of sports and playwriting.

PostScript: Candrice's play Flex is on the 2019 Kilroys List.
