“A thing in the sense of being present-at-hand: a rock, a piece of wood, a pair of pliers, a watch, an apple . . " - Martin Heidegger

In this seminar with McKnight Fellow W. David Hancock participants will focus on how things can be used to tell theatrical stories. Whether the thing is an ancient relic, beloved amulet, or an everyday object it can be used as a writing prompt for your play. This class will explore how things can help with writer's block, interactions with an audience, and crafting unique narratives.

This is the Seminar for you if:

  • There is a particular thing/object that you're fascinated by
  • You want a different way in for the writing of your next play
  • You are interested in different theatrical forms
