Which is for the most part true, but I’m like…girl I ain’t wrote for 9-1-1 for two seasons, and ain’t it on ABC now? Also, it didn’t include anything about On Q Productions, The Fire This Time Festival, or 48 Hours in Harlem…the Black theatre organizations that were checkin’ for me when nobody else was. Anyway. Who are you as an artist? Why do you create stories for the stage? This workshop is designed to help students reshape and articulate how to express their artistic goals, vision, and aesthetics. With guidance from Stacey, students will workshop how to develop exciting and personal artistic statements, project pitches, resume/bio, and play synopsis in preparation for submitting their applications for various opportunities.
This workshop is for you if you:
- Struggle articulating your artistic vision, mission, and aesthetic for the application.
- Are interested in new ways to approach the application process.
- Have received confusing feedback on previous applications.
- Struggle researching and organizing submission opportunities.
- Are interested in learning more about Stacey Rose’s work and approach to writing.
What to expect:
- Engage in writing exercises in and outside of the writing session.
- Complete a packet with several artistic statements, pitches, resumes/bios, and play synopsis/summaries.
- Develop dramaturgical skills while reading and observing the new work of peers.
- Connect and engage with students and the instructor online via Zoom and email.
- Accountability while producing, sharing, and responding to new pages of packet.
- Strengthen and better articulate your writing process, aesthetic, and vision.
