SUMMARY:Loom
DESCRIPTION:About the play\nA family caught in the middle of the Luddite rebellions fights to stay together as the forces of history rip them apart. A cast of eight actors play over 60 roles in this riff on the Shakespearean history play about what it means to be human\, and what we sacrifice to preserve our humanity. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n From Charlie\n \n \n LOOM comes out of my anxiety about the degradation of human craft\, creativity\, and basic dignity. I can’t wait to come back to Playwrights’ Center with a play that challenges an ensemble of actors to do something difficult—if not impossible—creating an entire world with just their words\, their talent\, their creativity. My hope is that having these actors play all of these roles\, creating something out of nothing\, is to honor the craft\, imagination\, and humanity the Luddites were fighting to preserve\, and what we as artists need to protect today. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n Making your reservation\nThis is an free\, in-person\, ticketed event at Playwrights’ Center on May 21.
