SUMMARY:IN-PERSON CLASS: Writing for the solo performer
DESCRIPTION:Solo performance — why do it? What can it do that few other forms can? During this class\, students will examine different works of solo performance and apply the principles they encounter therein to their own work. With guidance from MK\, students will leave the class having written the beginnings of several options for a one-act performance\, any of which could be expanded into a full draft. This class will also encourage playwrights to confront themselves playfully\, writing from a place of honesty and vulnerability that celebrates experimentation and encourages bold artistic gestures. Together students will consider the questions of how to cast the audience\, how trustworthy to make our narrator(s)\, how poetry\, character and rhythm can be helpful tools\, as well as gauging the writer’s fluctuating distance to the material and the listener as the story unfolds. \nTier 1 members can take the class for $250\, all other members and non-members will pay $300\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Registration nowOpen\n \n \n \n \n \n Type\n Class \n \n \n Dates\n Mondays\, October 26 – November 30 from 6 – 8:00pm CT\n \n \n Venue\n Playwrights’ Center\, 710 Raymond Ave\, Saint Paul\, MN 55114\, \n \n \n Cost\n \n $300 – ($250 for Tier 1 members)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n Contact\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n Scholarship\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n Accessibility\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Contact\n If you have any questions\, email the education team at education@pwcenter.org \n \n \n Scholarship\n If the cost of this session is a financial barrier to you and you’d like a custom payment plan\, please contact our Director of Professional Resources and Education Hannah Joyce at hannahj@pwcenter.org.\n\nTier 1 members get a $50 discount.
