“Throughout history human exploitation of the earth has produced this progression: colonize, destroy, move on.” – ecologist/philosopher Garrett Hardin
This seminar begins with an understanding that climate change is real. Join us to work with Jessica Huang (2017 - 2018 Jerome Fellow) on incorporating the realities of global warming in your theatrical work. As the season changes, take this opportunity to examine the shifting global climate in your play/s.
This is the seminar for you if:
- You have always wanted to write an "eco" play
- You want to introduce elements of climate change into your work
- You are curious about the intersection of theatre and climate change
PostScript: Jessica is currently working on a new commission from Mixed Blood Theatre about grief and global warming that merges mixed-race identity politics, science and global economics to tell a story that spans 252 million years.
Playwrights of all experience levels welcome.
