"I wish I could see how many drafts it takes to make something good...That is something that you kind of learn the hard way...You’re constantly working the thing.”Lucas Hnath (Author of the Tony Nominated A Doll's House, Pt. 2)

One of the hardest things for a playwright, no matter what their accomplishments, can be to really conquer structure. Join us for this online only seminar, led by Crystal Skillman, that will help you in that painful act of pulling off the band-aid of creating a game plan for the new theatrical work you’re creating. Using techniques from TV, comic book, and musical theater writing, playwrights will be lead through several creative methods of plotting to see what works for them. Students can work on a new idea, or use this to make strong dramaturgical choices of where they are going in their latest rewrite.

This is the seminar for you if:

  • You want to overcome the fear of plotting/outlining
  • You are looking to improve/refresh your rewriting process
  • You are looking to improve the ability to be your own dramaturg

PostScript: Check out this colorful spread from the The Dramatist on Crystal Skillman's style when writing, rehearsing, and attending opening night.
