Playwrights’ Center is rooted in Minnesota. This is our home.
Escalating violence has brought tension and trauma to our neighbors, colleagues, and friends. Our staff and the artists we support deserve and need a safe place to do their work, and in this moment, that safety has been compromised.
The Center has always been committed to the care of artists. We are responsive to their needs, and right now many artists who are here in the Twin Cities need time and flexibility to tend to themselves, their families, and their communities. We are devoting our resources to helping them do that. We may support some playwrights by going forward with a workshop, and others by rescheduling.
We have chosen to postpone our February Ruth Easton and In the Lab events (Amy Berryman’s The Treatment and Marvin González De León’s American Carnage.) We hope you will join us at a later date to hear their brilliant and transformative work.
Through it all we feel immensely proud to be an organization that is in and of the Twin Cities.
